The inspiration for this room came from a beam of light streaming in from the outside, which seems to make every piece in the room sparkle. Again, there are stark contrasts of darks and lights, blacks and whites — from the smooth texture of a shellacked console to the barnacled rough texture of a conch shell, one is enveloped by natural elements.

The lovely modern wing chairs seem to have “come to tea” in this New Orleans parlor. The surprise element in this room is the splash of orange on a painted French console sitting comfortably below a pale yellow, deep blue and turquoise painting.
The Donghia bed is the “lady” of this room — its simplicity contrasts with the elaborately carved French armoire. The cinnamon colors, mixed with mink brown, sing warmth in an otherwise neutral palette.
